2. General Roleplay Rules
-
Standards of Roleplay
In ShadeCity, roleplay is the core of our community. Always prioritize roleplay over rule-play. If you can justify your actions within the context of roleplay, staff will be fair in their judgment. This is a serious roleplay server, and any actions that fall below the expected standard of roleplay (as determined by staff) will result in punishments. -
Stay in Character (IC) at All Times
- Do not break character (IC) during interactions. If someone else breaks character, try to roleplay through the situation, but do not engage in out-of-character (OOC) discussions unless absolutely necessary.
- OOC issues (such as character conflicts, rule breaks, or complaints) should be dealt with in private and not in the city.
- Do not mention OOC matters such as alt characters (cousins), body cams (for rule breaks), or anything outside of the current roleplay scenario.
-
Character Integrity
-
Each of your characters is separate and does not share information. Do not use knowledge from one character to benefit another in any way.
- If there is a conflict of interest between your characters, you must step out of the situation. This prevents metagaming and keeps the roleplay fair.
-
-
Combat Logging
- Disconnecting during a roleplay scenario, especially in the middle of a crime or police interaction, is not allowed. If you disconnect mid-scene, you must log back into your last location and immediately open a ticket to inform staff.
- Combat logging is never acceptable. Always complete the scene and disconnect only once the situation is fully resolved.
-
Metagaming (MG)
- Metagaming is using out-of-character knowledge (such as knowing another character’s location, plans, or personal details) to influence in-character decisions. Do not allow your OOC knowledge to affect your character’s actions.
- Always ensure that your character only knows what they realistically could have learned from their environment and interactions.
-
Powergaming (PG)
- Powergaming is forcing actions upon other players or unrealistic actions that don’t fit the context of the roleplay. This includes dictating the outcome of situations for your own advantage or forcing others to act a certain way.
- Example: Forcing a player to comply without giving them a chance to react is powergaming.
-
Fail RP (FRP)
- Fail RP occurs when a player ignores basic roleplay logic, fails to act within the confines of their character, or breaks character entirely.
- This includes actions like using unrealistic tactics or behavior that would not be accepted in the given scenario. Always stay true to your character’s personality and environment.
-
Not Valuing Life (NVL)
- NVL (Not Valuing Life) is when your character’s actions show they do not value their own life or the lives of others. For example, running into a dangerous situation without regard for consequences or refusing to comply with reasonable demands when your character is in danger.
- Always act in a way that demonstrates your character’s self-preservation and respect for life.
-
New Life Rule (NLR)
- The New Life Rule (NLR) means that if your character dies, they forget everything about their previous life, including all previous interactions.
- This rule applies immediately after death. Once you respawn, you cannot return to the scene or engage with those involved in your previous death.
-
Random Deathmatch (RDM)
- RDM is the act of randomly killing other players without a valid reason tied to the roleplay scenario.
- If you kill someone, there must be a clear, in-character reason for it. Killing without justification is strictly prohibited.
-
Vehicle Deathmatch (VDM)
- VDM is when a player uses their vehicle to intentionally run over or harm others without a valid in-character reason.
- Vehicles should not be used as weapons unless it makes sense in the context of the roleplay.
These rules are in place to create a fun, immersive, and fair roleplaying environment. Please respect them, and if you're ever unsure about something, feel free to ask a staff member. Roleplay with integrity and enjoy the experience!

-
3. Account Rules
-
You are fully responsible for anything that happens on your account.
-
Buying or selling accounts and/or in-game valuables from anyone other than the server owners (for donation packages) is strictly prohibited. The community is not responsible for scams, permanent character deaths, or bans resulting from account transactions.
-
If you lose access to your Discord account, we are unable to transfer whitelisted job status or any account-related privileges to a new Discord account.
-
-
4. Donation Rules
-
All donations and purchases are non-refundable. If a mistake occurs or you experience an issue, please contact an owner immediately.
-
If a buyer is banned for violating server rules, any purchases they made will not be refunded. Buyers are held to the same standards as all other players.
-
In the event of a chargeback, you will forfeit any right to appeal bans resulting from server rule violations.
-
Selling any items or goods with IRL Money is strictly prohibited in ShadeCity.
-
-
5. Character Rules
-
Creating new characters to transfer money or assets to your main account is strictly prohibited.
-
Police and EMS characters are not allowed to be corrupt. This includes giving away or selling equipment.
-
If you are incapacitated, taken to the hospital, and revived, you must not return to the RP scenario you were previously in for at least 60 minutes. This also includes avoiding the same location.
-
You cannot create multiple characters that are in the same gang.
-
If you indicate to EMS that you have no pulse three times, this signifies your character's permanent death (permadeath).
-
-
6. Cheating & Exploiting
-
Any form of cheating is strictly prohibited in ShadeCity.
-
Visual enhancements (such as reshade or graphics mods) are allowed, as long as they do not provide a gameplay advantage.
-
Macroing or using any software to bypass the AFK script is not allowed and will result in punishment.
-
If you find any bugs or exploits, you must report them to staff immediately. Using exploits for personal gain will result in a ban.
-
-
7. Communication
-
Communication in public channels must be in English. Refusing to communicate in English in these spaces may result in a ban.
-
Players may speak other languages in private messages or personal, non-public areas.
-
Advertising other servers, websites, or links is strictly prohibited in the ShadeCity Community.
-
Threatening others with viruses, DDoSing, or cyber attacks is not allowed and will be severely punished.
-
In-character offensive language and threats are allowed as part of RP; however, insulting another character provides them a valid roleplay reason to take hostile action against yours. Racism and sexual harassment are never allowed, in character or out of character.
-
Do not spam identical or meaningless messages, server commands, or use voice chat to create game-unrelated irritating sounds.
-
Any kind of out-of-character offensive language, threats, or racism is strictly prohibited. Death threats aimed at real people will result in severe punishments.
-
Excessive shouting of swear words or negative language at others is not tolerated.
-
-
8. OOC Rules
-
OOC (Out of Character) talk should be kept to Discord and is not allowed while in-game.
-
Mentioning other "cities" or "counties" (other servers) is prohibited.
-
Please maintain the flow of RP by rolling with any bugs you encounter (such as cars driving with no driver or a "scuffed" robbery) and report them afterwards. Do not break character to discuss server issues in-game.
-
Any kind of out-of-character offensive language, threats, or racism is strictly prohibited. Death threats aimed at real people will result in severe punishments.
-
Excessive shouting of swear words or negative language at others is not tolerated.
-
-
9. Report Rules
-
All player reports must be submitted through the Discord ticketing system, whether the incident is past or present.
-
Reports must include all necessary information and evidence, including raw, unedited footage if providing a video.
-
Please allow up to a week for your report to be processed, though most cases are handled within 24 hours.
-
If you believe a staff member is abusing their powers, you may submit a staff report using a Discord ticket.
-
Personally messaging a staff member about a report may result in being ignored or redirected to open a ticket through the proper channels.
-
-
10. Gang Rules
-
To create a registered gang, you must apply through the gang application on the site. Once your application is approved, you will be able to set up a dedicated spot for your gang, complete with parking, apartments, and more.
-
Remember, gangs are not just about running around and shooting each other. Do not feel that every gang has to be hostile or cause problems. Be original, creative, and have fun with your gang's identity.
-
Always initiate before shooting. You are expected to roleplay and use your words. Even if "drama" happens over social media, you are still expected to RP in person. Violence isn't always the solution have some fun and engage with others in a creative way.

11. Criminal Activities
-
Player Limit for Criminal Activities:
Criminal activities, such as bank robberies, store robberies, and heists, are limited to 5 criminals maximum at a time. This means that outside help is not allowed—whoever you bring to the scenario is who you have until the situation is fully played out. This includes any outside involvement, such as lookouts or people providing information (e.g., via radio or comms). -
Gang Restrictions:
Multiple gangs are not allowed to collaborate during criminal activities. Gangs also cannot take a robbery or crime to their turf or near their turf where they would violate the 5-player rule. -
Fake Hostages:
Fake or "friendly" hostages are not allowed. Hostages must not be part of the same group or “cut in” on the robbery. -
Planning and Creativity in Heists:
For larger crimes like bank robberies and heists, there must be a planned approach. Don’t just grab hostages and run—the scene should be creative and immersive! -
Cooldowns:
After completing a criminal activity, you must wait for a cooldown period before committing another crime. This ensures that other players get a chance to engage in criminal activities as well and gives Police/EMS a break. You cannot do multiple high-profile crimes in quick succession. The cooldowns are as follows:- Store Robberies: 45 Minutes
- Jewelry Store: 1 Hour
- Bank Trucks: 2 Hours
- Fleeca Bank: 2 Hours
- Paleto Bank: 3 Hours
- Pacific Bank: 3 Hours
-
Robbing Other Players:
You may rob other players by roleplaying it out or by forcing them to raise their hands. There is no limit to how much money or items you can take during a robbery, but it should be reasonable based on the situation. For example, do not rob players of everything they have unless it fits the context of the scene. -
Robbery Restrictions:
- You cannot rob players at locations with teleport spots (e.g., apartments).
- Police officers and EMS employees cannot be robbed, though they can be taken as hostages.
- Fleeca, Paleto, and Pacific Bank are off-limits 1 hour before restart and 45 minutes after restart.
-
Police Equipment:
- Do not use police weapons (including tasers) during crimes.
-
The only items you may take from cops are:
- Body Armor
- Ammo
- Body Cams
- IFaks
-
EMS Rules:
- On-duty EMS may not be robbed under any circumstances.
- On-duty EMS may not be physically harmed unless they interfere with a scenario where you have given them reasonable time to respond.
-
Hostage Rules:
- Not all crimes require a hostage, but higher-tier crimes like heists and bank robberies do. Hostages are required for entering hostage negotiations or to receive Free Passage from Police.
- Hostages should be held for no more than 15 minutes, unless all parties agree to extend the roleplay.
- You cannot take employees hostage from whitelisted businesses unless there are 2 or more employees present.
-

- You cannot pocket wipe someone, taking everything they own. Only take what is on their person at the time.
-
-

Certain crimes cannot be committed just before or after a restart (Tsunami). Please wait the appropriate amount of time:-
30 minutes before/after:
- Banks
- Heists
- Store Robberies
- Bank Trucks
-
15 minutes before/after:
- Robbing people
- Kidnapping
- Murder
- Gang-related activities

30 minutes before/after:
-
Gang Size and Hostile Activities:
- Groups are limited to 6 players max for any criminal activities, including robberies or hostile actions against other gangs or the police. This includes any lookouts, getaway drivers, or any other associates.
- If you have more than 6 people, you must either be in your gang's base of operations or in a neutral area with no hostile intentions toward others.
- Gangs cannot hire or pay other gangs to fight on their behalf.
-
Gang Wars:
Gang wars must be driven by roleplay. Staff will intervene if the conflict causes excessive disruption to roleplay or if there is no end goal in sight. Gangs are expected to follow a logical narrative with their wars, and violence should be used in moderation to create an engaging story rather than for pure conflict.
-
-
12. Greenzones
-
Green Zones are designated areas where no criminal activity or hostile actions should take place. Violations within these zones will result in punishments. These zones are intended to provide safe spaces for interaction, socializing, and non-violent activities.
Green Zone Locations:
- Pillbox Medical Center (includes the parking lot and surrounding sidewalks)
- Apartments (includes parking lot and sidewalks around the apartments)
- Casino (Note: Selling drugs here is strictly prohibited)
- MRPD (Police Department) is considered a light green zone—no illegal activities should take place here unless there is a major roleplay reason.
-
-

- No free upgrades at tuner shops unless the business owner has granted permission.
These rules are set to ensure fair play and encourage proper roleplay. Violations of these guidelines will result in penalties.
